Baptism

Baptism

Are you the parents of a child for whom you desire baptism?

Are you an unbaptised adult seeking to be received into the Church?

Baptism, the first and fundamental sacrament is the gate to the other sacraments. Baptism is the purifying and sanctifying sacrament of rebirth and the means by which its recipients are incorporated into the Church in a bond of unity.

Baptisms usually take place on the 2nd and 4th Sautrday of each month.

Please note: Baptisms take place by appointment

Parents must fill out a Baptismal Request form (download here) or from the sacristy return it to the sacristy or to the Parish Secretary, Donnycarney Church, Malahide Rd. Dublin 5 at least two week prior to the baptismal date. A copy of the child birth cert must also be included when you return the baptismal form.

If parents are residing in another parish but wish to have their child baptised in Donnycarney, they must inform their Parish Priest. They must also get a letter of permission from their Parish Priest to have the baptism in another parish.

Two of the team are in attendance at every Christening, welcoming the families, ensuring that everyone is prepared and comfortable with what they are doing before sharing with the priest in the celebration of the sacrament.

Adults who desire to undertake Christian Initiation (RCIA) should also make enquiries at this time.
